Description
Handwritten letter from Aloysius O'Kelly to James Herbert, also including an envelope. O'Kelly describes the damp weather in Dublin and the poor prospects of finding buyers in the city. Believes that he may have more luck with the Irish in New York as the paintings are picturesque and have a national interest. Describes the boarding house and the rebuilding of fine buildings that were damaged in the civil war. Mentions that if he had money and a home he would be happy to stay in Dublin. He also writes that he found his brother James’s grave in Glasnevin cemetery near Parnell’s tomb - James's grave is an inscribed monument in the form of an Irish cross.
