Download: view IIIF manifest
Description
Handwritten letter in which O’Kelly writes that he has received the £50 sent by Herbert from the National Bank and describes the excellent room he has for painting. His subjects are the ancient ecclesiastical buildings of the Rock of Cashel and Holycross Abbey. O'Kelly hopes to show the Archbishop of Cashel some of his work. He is unsure of the prices to ask for his work, mentioning that in the past he has given his work away for ‘trifling sums’. He will attempt to find purchasers in Dublin if he fails in Thurles. He also mentions the difficulties in accessing fuel due to the coal strike in England. Describes the cold winter weather.
