Letter from William Orpen to [Grace Orpen] concerning their daughter 'Kit'
Download: view IIIF manifest
Description
Handwritten letter in which Orpen discusses Kit's health with Grace and her suggestion that the child be removed from school for a period of time. Orpen seeks information on what the doctor has recommended, and offers his own suggested course of action - that if she is strong enough Kit could remain at home and receive some music lessons, but not from [Mrs. Arbel] who he considers a waste of money. This letter is written on the reverse of a typescript letter f to Orpen, asking that he send a publishing company a short biographical note on his life and work for inclusion in their planned encyclopaedia, entitled 'Men of To-Day and their Works.' Letter is also accompanied by an envelope addressed to Lady Orpen at the Corner House, 11 Royal Hospital Road, Chelsea, London, Angleterre, and postmarked as Paris, 7 February 1924. Envelope includes a number of indecipherable words on the reverse. [See also ORP1/5/1/1/7/8/11]
