This series contains secondary material written about the life and work of Sir Frederic William Burton, including manuscript copies of extracts from Burton's original retirement announcement, obituaries, and will as well as information on Burton material held by other collecting institutions. The bulk of this series comprises scholarly biographical material published in various journals or by the National Gallery of Ireland itself; a notable author being Marie Bourke of the National Gallery of Ireland. Also included are auction records for major works by Burton from Sotheby's and Christie's, and a Christmas card produced by the Irish Folklore Commission in 1962 depicting a sketch by Burton.
