Notebooks and sketchbooks of Sir Frederic William Burton (and possibly other artists)
Description
This series contains four notebooks written by Sir Frederic William Burton or possibly his father and other artists. Where notation is found, one book is marked 'W[illiam] Brocas' and another 'Sketches by Phiz [Hablot Knight Browne]' possibly containing the authentic sketches of these artists (or copies by Burton). The two notebooks attributed to Burton himself contain Burton's notes on art accompanied by poetry and numerous sketches, as well as a small leather bound notebook detailing a trip to England.
