Description
Seven folders containing black and white photographic prints of the Guercino drawings held in Windsor Castle Library, and catalogued as part of the monograph, The Drawings of Guercino in the Collection of her Majesty the Queen at Windsor Castle, co-authored by Denis Mahon and Nicholas Turner (Cambridge University Press, 1989). Majority of the photographs possess numbered labels on the reverse running from 2374-3195 which correspond to the Windsor inventory numbers. Not all entries are present. Missing numbers include but are not limited to: 2602, 2399, 2695, 2700-2799, 2839, 2852 Folder 1 contains 5 unnumbered photographic prints. Styles in evidence: Pen and ink; Pen; Pen and wash; Brush and wash; Chalk; Graphite Drawings were grouped as follows in the monograph, and may have representatives in the photographic prints: Autograph Drawings; Drawings Ascribed to Guercino; School Drawings; Copies of Works by Followers; Offsets.
