Description
1892 Pocket-sized week per view "Letts's Pocket Diary" of Walter Osborne (aged 33) includes entries for months January until end December. Begins with a table of exhibitions where Osborne displayed his works in 1892 including those of the Royal Hibernian Academy, Dublin Art Club, the Royal Academy, Royal Society of British Artists, and others. Also included are Osborne's records of things lent and returned, and addresses (including those of his models). The majority of the diary is made up of short daily descriptive jottings which include the weather, references to works such as "finished 'Watersprites'" (1 January 1892), "worked at Patrick Saint pastel" (18 February 1892), and events such as "Recieving Day, Royal Academy" (25 March 1892), "My 33rd birthday. Made pochade of Fishwomen, got letters from V[iolet]. M[other]. [and] Father." (15 June 1892), "T[rinity] C[ollege] D[ublin] Tercentenary begins. Procession, Garden Party, Banquet." (5 July 1892). Diary format includes printed reference information including full calendar for 1892 including bank holidays, eclipses, and term and exam dates for Oxford and Cambridge Universities. Also included is a table of the royal family of Great Britain and her majesty’s chief officers of state, postal regulations, directions for making a will, weights and measures, close season for game, an almanac for 1893, and information on "middle class hospitals."
