Description
Transcribed typescript copy of a letter from Bernard Mulrenin at 40 Sackville Street, Dublin to his wife Mary who is presently staying with Robert Barklie and family at Coola Mills, Kilbeggan, County Westmeath. Mulrenin writes that he is distressed to hear of Mary's poor health. He also notes that he has dined with the Curtis family and descibes a robbery at Pothonier's where Mary Tucker was caught stealing "blankets, candlesticks, sheets, etc. etc." He goes on to relate news of other acquaintances, notes that Ann is recovering, and discusses current events, such as the prosecution of the "tithe agitators and the editor of the Comet." A brief reference is also made to the presence of cholera in Dublin.
