Download: view IIIF manifest
Description
Letter in which Orpen mentions the difficulty of working with the young sitter, writing that 'she won't sit, can't keep her face still.' Elsewhere, Orpen suggests that Grace attend the opera with a friend, 'Richard', as Orpen will not be home in time to attend, but could meet them afterwards for dinner. Orpen concludes with news of work at the Metropolitan School, and discussed financial matters with Grace. Letter includes three pen sketches - one of the artist seated in his studio painting; one of a young girl's face, and one of Orpen floating above an unidentified house.
