Illustrated letter from William Orpen to Grace Orpen describing his progress on certain paintings
Download: view IIIF manifest
Description
Handwritten letter in which Orpen explains the difficulty in finishing paintings quickly. He includes a detailed colour pen sketch of a mirror which appears to be a component in a current painting he is working on. The mirror shows his own reflection. He also mentions work on a painting of 'little girls', where the heads are causing him trouble. The letter concludes with a pen sketch of Orpen running for the last post.
