Description
Handwritten letter, on headed paper from The Gables, Singleton Road, Kersal, in which Orpen mentions that he is having difficulty with a portrait of a young girl, but that he doesn't 'believe it will get any better.' 'I fear it is a work I shall not be proud of in the future...' Orpen also writes that he is reading 'George Moore's book' [Modern Painting] (London: Walter Scott, 1893).
