Letter addressed to [Ellen Stokes] from Sarah Stokes
Description
Handwritten letter using the cross-writing technique whereby text is written horizontally and vertically to make efficient use of paper resources. Reverse contains a handwritten address citing Ms Stokes's address as being in Dublin. Sarah stokes in her letter apologises for her late reply as she has been run off her legs and requests books as they are her only amusement. She relates that 'things look brighter in [Harcourt] that than when you wrote last'. She proceeds to discuss family members and mutual friends. Also includes a broken red wax seal and postmark.
