The first clippings are two copies of an article entitled “A Composer Who Paints and Doctor”, published in The Irish Independent on 21 February 1936, as part of the column “Leaves From a Woman’s Diary by G. G.” It is an article about the life and career of Crampton Gore, with a strong focus on his work as a composer, in anticipation of an upcoming concert of the Sutton Singers in Dublin. Part of the article explains ow he uses the poetry of his 17th century ancestor Josiah Crampton for his musical pieces. The second article is from The Irish Independent in July 1946 and is about the exhibition of the late Gore’s works at the Waddington Galleries. All clippings are annotated and corrected by hand. |
