| Description |
Typed letter to Crampton Walker in Dublin, dated 4th April 1930 and addressed from the Consulat General de Belgique. Walker's address is 16 Fitzwilliam Place, Dublin. The letter is addressed to Walker and asks if he appreciates M. van Puyvelde's "remark and suggestion as regards the poster." The letter discusses the "Man of the West" and its [in]suitability as "characteristic of Ireland and awakening in the mind of the public the desired attraction towards an exhibition of foreign art." The author of the letter adds that Sir William Orpen's feelings could not be possibly hurt if a second image, an Irish landscape was instead used as a poster. The author adds "P.s. As I am signing I think of Paul Henry's bogs, hills, lakes and cottages of all of which we have none in Belgium." |
