Handwritten letter from John Butler Yeats to Ruth Hart writing of his impressions of the American people and his time spent with Mr Keogh [Judge Martin Jerome Keogh]. Yeats discusses the cultural differences between Americans, the English and the Irish people, and goes on to write that Hart would be proud of the Irish in New York. 'Bad Irishmen' throw off the church and romanticism. Yeats writes of Keogh's humble beginnings and his now prosperous career as a Supreme Court Judge. At the end of the letter, there is a drawing of a person lying down covered in mosquitos.
