Letter from Elizabeth C Yeats to Mr Ignatius MacHugh
Description
Handwritten letter with Cuala Industries letterhead from Elizabeth Corbet Yeats to Mr Ignatius MacHugh [librarian] in Philadelphia, dated three months after the end of the War of Independence. Yeats agrees that ‘Ireland will do great things if only we can all hold on till the settlement is made’ and shares her relief that crown forces are no longer harassing people and there is no longer a danger of being shot. She describes the difficulties of running a business ‘in these bad times’ and urges Mr MacHugh to tell his friends about Cuala’s work.
