Description
A list of sales catalogues and catalogues of private collections 1851-1953, featuring works by, or attributed to, Guercino (1591-1666). Material sourced in the British Museum, the National Gallery London and the Victoria and Albert Museum. Inserted in this ringbinder are: 1. Extracts from Samuel Roger’s (1763-1855) Mss. Common Place Book. 2. A page of notes by Sir Denis on Christie’s sale of Old Master Drawings, the property of the Earl of Warwick, on 20 May 1896. 3. Note: “Paris sale 18 June 1957, God the Father 69 x 92 cm”. 4. Two index cards, one re “William Bateson Sale Sotheby’s 23-24 April 1929”, the other re “Sale at Sotheby’s 26 April 1927” of drawings sold “by order of Miss Seymour’s Trustee”. 5. Note re Christie’s sale 20 November 1933, lot 90. 6. Photocopy of the cover page and first pages of the catalogue of Sotheby’s sale of 22 June 1949, property of C. L. Chute.
