Description
Box of photographs, with an annotation reading as "Photographs made at City Museum and Art Gallery Birmingham when 8 of my pictures were exhibited in 1955". One set of photographs of works at the Royal Academy Winter Exhibition held in Birmingham. There are annotations on the verso of some of the prints, along with stamps such as "Copyright Denis Mahon," "A.C. Cooper" and a stamp from the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. Paintings represented in this file include, by Guercino; "Jacob Blessing the Sons of Joseph," "Madonna of the Sparrow," "Elijah Fed by Ravens" and "Saint Gregory the Great with Jesuit Saints." Also includes "The Rape of Europa" by Guido Reni. There are also paintings by other artists including; Johann Liss, Gioacchino Assereto, Bartolomeo Schidone, Valerio Castelli, Salvator Rosa, Ciro Ferri, Giuseppe Bartolomeo Chiari and Domenichino.
