Description
Includes photographs of paintings by Annibale Carracci considered for the Carracci Exhibition "Mostra dei Carracci", 6 September - 31 October 1956, Palazzo dell'Archiginnasio, Bologna. Also includes photographs of the interior of a Bolognese gallery, labelled "Sala Anatomica," and handwritten notes and ephemera. Many of the prints are annotated by Sir Denis Mahon and others, and the main phorographic studio used appears to be A. Villani. Insitutions and people mentioned within these annotations include; the Louvre, the Earl of Yardborough, the Uffizi Gallery, the Hermitage Museum and Roddy Thesiger. Paintings include; "Hercules at the Crossroads," "The Temptation of St Anthony Abbot," "La Pietà," "Landscape with the Binding of Isaac," "Vocina Sanoitana," "La Deposizione di Cristo," "Young Man," "The Coronation of the Virgin."
