Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 9th June 1978 in which the following was discussed: the Fresco Room was now open to the public."St. John the Baptist in the Desert" by Guercino, was rejected for purchase. Loans were discussed. A researcher at Trinity College Dublin found drafts of board meetings from the 1920s which were to be used in an upcoming book, therefore the board agreed to invesitgate the matter further. The following purchases were approved; "Landscape in Cork" by Nathaniel Grogan [NGI 7829] and "Members of Corbally Family" originally attributed to Philip Hussey but now attributed to Strickland Lowry [NGI 4304]. Five sketchbooks from Michael Salaman were declined for purchase. A bronze bust of Frederick May by Seamus Murphy was accepted, as well as a landscape by May Manning [NGI 4305]. Five requests for loans were granted, along with four requests to hold receptions in the Gallery. Three concerts were also permitted to be held in the Gallery. The Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund were discussed.
