Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 11th June 1976 in which the following was discussed: plans were shown for the installation of the frescoes in the Gallery. The Director reported on the purchase of work by J.M. Wright [NGI 4184]. The proposed exhibition of American drawings in September was discussed. Three portraits of the family at Malahide were accepted on loan. A collection of books form the Art Library of Mr Justice Murnaghan was gifted to the Gallery and accepted by the board. Four requests for loans were sanctioned. The board expressed their willingness to accept the suggestion from the Government that they take over the Chester Beatty Loan Collection from the State. Mrs Muriel Brandt was appointed judge for the Taylor Art Competition. Three requests for receptions were permitted. The German Cultural Institute was permitted to hold a concert in the Gallery. The Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund were discussed. The assistant restorer, Miss Susan Janus, handed in her resignation as she was to be married in a few months.
