Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 12th December 1975 in which the following was discussed: a letter from the Department of Finance was received stating that it was not possible to create a snack bar at present, however the board resolved to push the matter further. A report was heard on the progress of the redecorating and re-roofing of the Gallery. "The Mountain Rivulet" by Thomas J. Mulvany was approved for purchase [NGI 4135]. The board also approved "La Jeune Bretonne" by Roderic O'Connor [NGI 4134]. The following were accepted as gifts; "Rain Over Marsh" by Emil Nolde, and a watercolour sketch book by Katherine Fry. Three loan requests were granted with one being deferred, and the board accepted two loans. Permission was granted for RTE to hold a concert in the Gallery. Restoration works from St. Patrick's College, Maynooth and the Municipal Gallery of Modern Art were to be carried out free of charge. Two exhibitions were approved to take place within the Gallery. The Director was authorised to purchase a picture by Nathaniel Hone. The Gallery was awarded the M.D.T. Trophy. The Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund were discussed.
