Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 12th October 1973 in which the following was discussed: the following gifts were accepted with thanks; "Portrait of Maurice Collis" [NGI 4066], "Portrait of Harry Clarke" by Margaret Clarke [NGI 4067], "Portrait of Sadhbh Trinseach" by A.E., "Portrait of Dean Swift" [NGI 4069]. The board accepted two loans. A report was read regarding Matthew Moss, restorer at the Gallery, who was supposedly hiring out picture[s] to Dublin firms, something which a journalist was threatening to expose. The board drafted a statement in response to this. The board granted a loan to the Louvre. The board received four requetss for functions, which were granted, as well as two concerts. A report was read regarding conservation in the Gallery. Three exhibitions were given permission to be held in the Gallery. The Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund were discussed. Permission was granted for the restoration of "Christ Bidding Farewell to his Mother" [by Gerard David NGI 13] to go ahead in Brussels.
