Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 6th July 1962 in which the following was discussed: it was reported that the restoration of the Milltown Furniture was now complete and available for inspection in the Drawings Cabinet. A portrait of Ambrose Fortune by Hadden [NGI 1728] was accepted from Mr George Hadden. Discussion on tender for automatic alarms for the Gallery. Discussion on use of the Civic Guards Pensioners Association. Richard McGonigal reappointed to board. Discussion of transport of pictures for loan by air 'by special airplane to Bologna' accompanied by a member of staff from the English National Gallery. It was announced the Registrar was to leave for a post with Telefis Eireann. Ethna Mary Waldron appointed Assistant. Her impressive credentials were read by Sir Ernest Rowe-Dutton to make his case for her to receive three increments of £25. In relation to the extension of the Gallery, Mr Frederic Du Berry's report was read detailing his visit to several English Galleries. Discussion relating to changes of byelaws, some relating to management of funds. Brief discussion of Shaw and Lane Funds.
