Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 7th February 1969 in which the following was discussed: Captain Burton and Mr R.R.. Figgis had been appointed to represent the Royal Dublin Society on the board. A letter was received from the Minister for Education on collaboration between The National Gallery and The Municipal Gallery. The Director's annual report for 1968 was read and approved. The board received more applications to hold receptions in the Gallery. The board opted to sanction loans to the Museum of Bordeaux and Trinity College Dublin, but did not sanction a request from the British Council. The purchase of "An Irish Tournament" by W.J. Fennell was approved [NGI 1903]. The Director was authorised to travel to America. Both the Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund were discussed. The board agreed to have a radio discussion with Mr Benedict Nicholson over the attribution of a painting which the board maintained was by Georges de la Tour [NGI 1867].
