Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 2nd February 1968 in which the following was discussed: the board passed a vote of sympathy for the relatives of the late Sir Chester Beatty. The Director's annual report for 1967 was read and discussed, which was to be released at a press conference. The board opted to sanction a loan to the Nelson Art Gallery in Kansas City and to East Kent and Folkstone Art Centre. The International Federation of Journalists were allowed to host a reception in the Gallery. "The King's Threshold" was accepted as a gift [NGI 6322]. The board approved the purchase of the following; a collection of 24 shows of the Greek and Russian schools from 1300-1700 [NGI 1835-1858], "Feast of the Gods" from the School of Fontainebleau [NGI 1834], and a sixteenth century Venetian Cassone. Discussion was held relating to the new wing of the Gallery. The board noted the state of the Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund. Sir Alfred Beit offered 9 pictures on loan to the Gallery to be exhibited during the Spring, which the board accepted.
