Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 21st October 1966 in which the following was discussed: the board accepted the gift of a postcard from George Bernard Shaw to Dr Bodkin. The board approved the loan of pictures to the Irish Embassy in Washington. Mr Michael Wynne was appointed as assistant, Mr Matthew Moss was appointed as assistant restorer, and Miss Hilary Pyle was appointed as temporary cataloguer. The board approved of the Director's plan for restoration of works in the Gallery and it was agreed to pay for this out of the Shaw Fund. The board lent a number of drawings to Wildenstein's of London. The following purchases were approved; a Roman crucifix c. 1620 [NGI 8014], a sculpture of a bust of a man, five pastels by F.R. West [NGI 3832-3836], a landscape by John Faulkner [NGI 1803] and "Irish Coast" by William Collins [NGI 1802].
