Minutes of board meeting held on 3rd June 1959 in which the following was discussed: the appointment of George [Henry?] Mundow to the board was noted. It was agreed to purchase "A Noble Spanish Child in its Cradle" byJuan Carreño de Miranda [NGI 1387] from Agnew and Sons for £1600. It was decided to purchase "The Annunciation" by Philippe de Champaigne (no price mentioned). It was decided the Gallery would pay for the transport of the "Pardon of Saint Anne d'Auray" by Lucien Simon if Madame Gruss donated it to the Gallery. Discussion of Shaw Fund and Lane Fund. Senator McGuire proposed the setting up of a sub-committee to deal with the 'large sums of money accruing to the Gallery' from the Shaw Fund.
