Description
Minutes of a board meeting in which the following was discussed: the board noted that they were pleased with their legal representation in regards to the Shaw Fund. The Attorney-General advised the board that admission fees to the Gallery should not be charged at present. The board accepted the gift of a collection of drawings from Mrs Diarmiud Coffey, a portrait of Mrs Heaven by John Butler Yeats [NGI 1800] and "Journey to Calvary" attributed to Pierre Mignard [NGI 1801]. The purchase of a portrait by Muriel Brandt was approved [NGI 1799]. The board decided to refuse a request for the loan of a Rembrandt from Messers Christie, Manson and Woods. 13 applications had been received for the post of assistant to the Director, and 2 had been received for the post of assistant restorer. The board commented on the affairs of the Shaw and the Lane Fund. Mr Mundow made a progress report on the state of the new wing.
