Minutes of a board meeting held on 3rd December 1965 in which the following was discussed: the board granted two loan requests. The purchase of a portrait of Henry Grattan by Martin Archer Shee was approved [NGI 1788], along with the purchase of a portrait of Brendan Behan by Harry Kernoff [NGI 3781]. It was resolved that a representative of the Department of Education should be present when interviewing for assistant to the Director. Mr Mundow states that the new wing of the Gallery should be completed by 1967. Additional safety measures had been taken following the breakthrough from the new wing to the present Gallery. The board commented on the credit of the Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund.
