Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 4th June 1965 in which the following was discussed: Mr Terence De Vere White, the Hon. James A. Murnaghan, Senator S.A. Maguire and Lord Moyne were reappointed to the board. An exhibition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of 1916 was proposed. Mr Terence De Vere White was nominated as judge for the Taylor Art Competition 1966. Four requests for loans from the Gallery were made, with all being granted. A new byelaw was proposed but was defeated by 10 votes to 3. "Annunciation" by a School of Avignon painter, later identified as Jacques Yverni, was approved for purchase at the price of £220,000 [NGI 1780]. Miss Waldrow submitted her resignation as assistant to the Director. More discussion was held in relation to the appointment of a cataloguer and an assistant restorer. Information was read regarding the Shaw Fund and the Lane Fund. The Friends of the National Collections had requested to hold a reception in the Gallery outside of regular opening times, which the board agreed to.
