Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 31st July 1964 in which the following was discussed: the centenary exhibition of the Gallery was rearranged due to a delay in decoration and preparation of the space. A request was received from Wexford Festival Opera for the loan of four items from the Gallery, which was granted. The Irish Ambassador in London also requested the loan of four pictures from the Gallery to hang in the Embassy, which was granted. The Director was authorised to visit Rome with the aim of getting an Italian restorer to work for The National Gallery. The contract who would carry out the extension of the Gallery had been selected, however there was an issue with the closing of Clare Lane for the construction period which was causing a delay in proceedings.
