Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 3rd December 1958 in which the following was discussed: approval was given for the restoration of "Wedding Feast" by Honthorst [NGI 1379] by Mr James Gorry. Estimates of £14,289 submitted for 1959/60. 8 works were considered for purchase. It was unanimously agreed to recommend the purchase of a tryptich by the Flemish School of Painting from Adams and Sons. It was agreed to lend cartoons and paintings by Evie Hone to the Arts Council of Great Britain. It was agreed to lend "The Village School" by Jan Steen for an exhibition in the Hague. It was agreed to loan Self-portrait of a Young Man by James Barry [NGI 971] to the Arts Council of Great Britain for an exhibition in the Tate Gallery. Discussion on the details and distribution of funds from the Shaw Fund. Appointments were made for board members to attend a meeting with the Department of Education in connection with pensions for the staff. Between pages 197 and 198 there is an A5 size sheet with some numbers and years written roughly.
