Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 4th June 1958 in which the following was discussed: a letter was read from Mr Fagan on the subject of the 'establishment of Attendants' which led to a 'lengthy discussion'. It was agreed to make further enquiries to the Department of Education as to conditions. The Director was instructed that he might bid to a limit of £10,000 for two pictures by Colijn de Coter the Master of the Magdelan Legend at an upcoming auction in Christies. Two works by Evie Hone were bequeathed by Nancy Cornell - Stained Glass Panel - The Two Apostles [NGI 12069] and Design, East Window, Eton College. It was agreed to lend three works to the Evie Hone Exhibition. Discussion about income tax and the Shaw Bequest. The offer for purchase of a picture attributed to Mathieu Le Nain from Clifford Duits for £400 was discussed. A pencil drawing of Oscar Wilde by A S Boyd [NGI 3774] was purchased for 18 guineas from Agnew and Sons.
