Minutes of board meeting held on 5th Febraury 1958 in which the following was discussed: it was reported that the Gallery had received £10,000 from the Shaw Fund to date. It was agreed to open an account at the Bank of Ireland for these funds. The offer of 163 pictures from the National Museum mentioned in previous minutes was deferred. Two pictures were gratefully accepted, "A Cavalier's Farewell to his Steed" by Jack B Yeats [NGI 1374] from a bequest by Mrs Case and the original portrait of Roger Casement by Sarah Purser from Joseph McGrath [NGI 1376]. Three requests for loans were discussed. There was discussion about a draft bill that would enable the loans of pictures to embassies overseas. Some offers were discussed including the offer of photographic blocks from Messrs Wilson Hartnell which were accepted.
