Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 10th April 1957 in which the following was discussed: sympathies for the death Jack B Yeats were expressed. The Department of Education appointed Mr John Burke to the board [until 1959]. It was reported that the portrait of O'Sullivan Beare [NGI 2331?] was now at Maynooth College. The Director reported that the "Earl of Essex" by Segar [NGI 283] had been damaged on loan to the Royal Academy - they offered to have it repaired in London. Various offers for purchases made but no decisions reached as no quorum present. Mr and Mrs R A French offered a "Seascape of Dublin Bay and Howth" by Jack B Yeats as gift which was accepted.
