Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 5th December 1956 in which the following was discussed: the sum £12,022 was agreed for services to the Gallery for 1957/8. It was agreed to loan three pictures to the National Gallery of Scotland. A loan from Chester Beatty of pictures by Manet, Cezanne, van Gogh, Sisley, Corot, Degas, and Picasso was 'accepted with thanks'. The Friends of the National Collections offered "Cupid and Psyche in the Nuptial Bower" by Hugh Douglas Hamilton [NGI 1342] as a gift. This was accepted. A portrait 'of herself' by JB Yeats was bequeathed by the late Elizabeth Geoghegan [NGI 1343]. Discussion on establishing a finance committee to review the Lane Fund.
