Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 13th July 1955 in which the following was discussed: on the discussion of the Registry of National Portraits it was suggested this might be undertaken by the National Library an adjunct to the Dictionary of National Biography. Lord Moyne appointed to fill the vacancy left my Father Senan. The Director submitted numerous works bequeathed by Evie Hone. A portrait of Benedict Fitzpatrick by Amy Cross {NGI 1307] was accepted from Mr Eamon de Valera. It was agreed to purchase Abraham and Melchizedek by Jacob Willemsz de Wet [NGI 1315] for £250 from Messrs P. and D. Colnaghi. Three loan requests were considered and seven offers for purchase were discussed.
