Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 1st December 1954 in which the following was discussed: the Director reported a meeting with the Science and Art and National Gallery Attendants Association about the service durations. Some discussion of the Directors salary. The Director submitted for inspection "Christ in Limbo" by Jan Mandyn [NGI 1296?] which he had purchased from Agnew and Sons for £550. The Director reported the offer for purchase of "The Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence" by Baccio Bandinelli [NGI 1301] which he was instructed to purchase at a lower price than the £950 asked. It was agreed to purchase "Portrait of a Boy" by Nathaniel Hone [NGI 1297] for £200 from Patrick O'Connor. It was agreed to purchase a Portrait of Susan Mitchell by J B Yeats [NGI 1298] for £25.A gift of a landscape by Mary Swanzy [NGI 2019] from Rachel Parker was accepted.
