Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 7th April 1954 in which the following was discussed: the admission to the Gallery of 'the Military Fire Picquet' were approved. The offer for purchase of "The Madonna" by Lucas Cranach the Elder [NGI 1278] for £600 was accepted. Also accepted was the purchase of a marble bust of Annie Hutton by Christopher Moore [NGI 8060] from Margaret Hutton. It agreed to purchase three portraits by Sarah Celia Harrisson for £150. Various gifts were accepted. The Director reported meeting with the delegates at the Art Congress in New York and discussing their loans policies. It was consequently decided to make representations to the Minister for Education regarding the loans policy.
