Minutes of board meeting held on 7th October 1953 in which the following was discussed: a picture by Walter Osborne was received from the estate of E M Cumimng [NGI 1273]. Several items/gifts offered by Chester Beatty were inspected and accepted. It was agreed to purchase "The Mass of St Gregory", a Franco Flemmish picture [NGI 1272?] for £800. A picture by Samual Lover by H F Ting was accepted. Several offers listed as declined. It was agreed to aspire to purchase a portrait of Lady Gregory by Orpen [NGI 1274] should it be attainable.
