Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 4th February 1953 in which the following was discussed: the Director presented for inspection a bronze sketch of George Bernard Shaw by Joseph Coplans (NGI 8146). A letter was read from J N Manson, the solicitors acting on behalf of the estate of G B Shaw - the matter refered to the Chief State Solicitor for advice. Discussion about working with The Arts Council relating to implementing the Arts Act. Mrs Vera Esposito Dockrell offered a bust of Edmund Dwyer Gray (1845-1888), Journalist and Publicist by Mary Redmond-Dunn [NGI 8145] and this was accepted. It was agreed to show the art critics visiting the International Association of Art Critics Congress around the Gallery on a Sunday morning. There is a list of applications for loans that were accepted and declined. The following gifts were accepted - drawings by Michael Healy by Evie Hone. Goddard Orpen by Seán O'Sullivan from Mr Richards-Orpen. 'Drawings by Francis Hodgkins' [NGI 3264] from the Friends of the Irish National Collections.
