Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 3rd December 1952 in which the following was discussed: three pictures by Leech were presented for presentation, offered by Mrs May Botterall - "A Convent Garden" [NGI 1245] and "The Sunshade" [NGI 1246]. The moved to express their appreciation to Mr O'Hegarty for work he had done for the OPW in connection with the heating of the Gallery. The offer of a plaster cast of Roger Casement from the President was gratefully accepted [NGI 8032 or 8282]. The offer of a self-portrait of James Sleator [NGI 4493] was accepted from Miss Catherine Burke. It was agreed to lend the picture of "Bishop Berkeley and His Companions" by Smibert [NGI 895] to the Bi-centenary Celebration of Berkelely at Trinity College. Estimate for service of the Gallery £11,781. It was agreed to seek an increase of grant aid for picture repairs from £3000 to £5000. It was agreed to lend "Christ in the House of Simon the Pharisee" by Signorelli [NGI 266] to an exhibition in Florence. A gift from Raymond Brooke of "The Gleaners" by Rose Barton was accepted "[Hop Pickers in Kent Returning Home" NGI 3259]. It was agreed to purchases from Rev Patrick Gorry "The Holy Family with Elizabeth and St John" [NGI 925 Poussin] for £200.
