Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 1st October 1952 in which the following was discussed: discussion on having the furnace fires 'banked up in such a way' to keep uniform heat in the Gallery at all times. Discussion about the extension of the Gallery and the necessary involvement of the Department of Finance. A request from Avoca School, Blackrock to make a film of the principle pictures of the Gallery declined. "Madonna Enthroned" by Carlo Crivelli [After Gentile da Fabriano, NGI 1243] and "The Count of Honour at Verseilles" by Henri la Sidaner ["Versailles: Cour d'Honneur" NGI 1244] were gratefully received from Chester Beatty. Two landscapes by W J Leech accepted from Joseph Coplans [plus NGI 8156]. Five requests for loans were submitted for consideration. The Director was empowered to make loans to the Dublin Municipal Gallery. Consideration for the purchases of "The Lake of Geneva" by Courbet for £2500 was postponed. Agreement was reached on an investment decision for the Lane Fund (5% National Loan).
