Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 5th June 1946 in which the following was discussed: the President of the Royal Hibernian Academy was appointed as a judge of the Taylor Art Scholarship for 1947, with Dr George Furlong appointed as an alternative judge. Information was read in regards to the investment of the Lane Fund, and the result of court proceedings with Mrs Ruth Shine, with the court ruling in her favour. Four Predella pictures by Benvenuto di Giovanni were submitted for purchase but were declined due to the financial state of the Gallery. It was decided that yellow flourescent lighting should be installed in the Gallery, firstly in the Italian rooms so that the system could be kept under observation over the winter before being installed throughout the Gallery, to be completed before April 1947. Sir Alec Martin had been asked to value 3 pictures on loan to the Gallery by solicitors, Messers A and J Robinson, which the board would be interested in. The Director commented on the credit of the Lane Fund.
