Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 7th February 1940 in which the following was discussed: a letter was received from the Department of Finance reducing the fund for the purchase and repair of pictures from £2000 to £1000 in the estimate for The National Gallery in the year 1940-41. The Director's report for 1939 was read and approved. Lord Longford and Mr Dermod O'Brien were reappointed as auditors of the Lane Fund. Lord Longford and Mr Joseph Holloway were reappointed to represent the board on the Selection Committee of the James Haverty Trust. The purchase of "A portrait of a Lady with garlands and cherubs" was declined. The purchase of an engraved portrait of Thomas Reynolds was also declined. The Director reported on the state of the Lane Fund.
