Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 6th October 1926 in which the following was discussed: replies were received in response to the letter sent by the board to various institutional and educational bodies about the Lane pictures in the previous meeting. More information about the investment in shares of the Hugh Lane Fund. An offer of conversion to Treasury bonds was referred to the investment sub-committee. Correspondence in reference to a bequest made by J.T. Bennett-Poe was made, and the board selected two pictures to accept into the Gallery [NGI 877-878]. An offer of purchase of a portrait by Paolo Veronese and a picture by John Sargent were both declined. The board also declined a picture by R. Hunter. A portrait of J.B.S. MacIlwaine by Walter Osborne was offered for purchase but declined at the named price. The offer of a gift of a plaster model by James Otway and a picture "Expulsion from Paradise" by W.B. Richmond were both declined. The offer of a number of sketches of Parnell by Sydney P. Hall were accepted.
