Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 3rd February 1926 in which the following was discussed: the Director laid out a report regarding the Lane securities. The National Gallery, London, had informed the Director that in regards to the National Gallery Loans Act, they viewed the Free State as being part of the United Kingdom. A letter was received from the Department for External Affairs in regards to the board's actions in the estate of the late John Quinn. Justice Murnaghan offered pictures on loan to the Gallery, which were to be inspected by the Director. The board expressed that a portrait of Signor Esposito would be desirable for their collection. The Director's report for 1925 was read and approved. A picture by Francis S. Walker was declined. Sir Philip Hanson and Mr Thomas Bodkin were reappointed as auditors of the Lane Fund. The report of the legislation sub-committee was amended and adopted. "A Young Saint" by Fiorenzo Lorenzo was declined for purchase, along with a "Portrait of Nathaniel Hone" by Walter Osborne, which was also declined.
