Description
Minutes of board meeting held on 3rd June 1914 in which the following was discussed: the Director reported the death of Mr Hopton Scott. Eleven pictures were approved for purchase, items and prices listed. Four pcitures were offered as gifts by the Director (Hugh Lane) and gratefully accepted. A catalogue of Greek Bronzes from the collection of Pierpont Morgan received. A letter to the Treasury previously agreed was read - the letter requests funds for pictures and salaries. The response from the Treasury is read denying the request and questioning the awarding of a civil service certificate to Mr Lane. A letter from Mr Turton was read asking if he could borrow pictures from the Milltown Collection not on display for use at Russbourough. The board felt 'disposed to comply'. The loan of two pictures was discussed.
