Description
Minutes of a board meeting held on 4th June 1924 in which the following was discussed: the purchase of a painting by G. de Latre was approved [NGI 851]. The Director was instructed to gain further information on a portrait of Daniel O'Connell which was offered for sale. The picture, "The Pool of Bethesda" offered for purchase by Captain R.L. Douglas was declined. A pastel portrait by Sir Thomas Lawrence was approved for purchase [NGI 2737]. A watercolour drawing of Dublin by T.C. Dibdin was approved for purchase [NGI 2738]. A minature by G. Lawrence was rejected for purchase. A bust of Edmund Burke was approved for purchase [NGI 8224], along with a miniature portrait by J. Comerford. A donation from Mr A.H. Ormsby Hamilton was received with thanks but the donor was redirected to donate it to a legal institution, where it would be more fitting. A bust of Sir Walter Armstrong was offered to the board and accepted [NGI 8143]. A letter from Lady Gregory was received, referring to the Lane French pictures.
